Water heater installation and repair are two services that our customers in Saline often have questions about. Here are answers to some of the most common questions homeowners ask us about these systems.
A tankless water heater offers several advantages compared to traditional tank systems. One of the biggest benefits is unlimited hot water on demand. That means you won’t have to worry about running out during back-to-back showers or when doing laundry. They’re reliable, which can mean fewer water heater repairs and easier maintenance.
Water heater replacement with a tankless unit also makes your home more energy-efficient, since they heat water only when you need it. This lowers your monthly utility bills. Another key advantage is their compact design. Unlike bulky storage tanks, tankless systems take up very little space, making them ideal for smaller homes or households looking to free up extra room. With professional tankless water heater installation, you’ll enjoy convenience, efficiency, and reliability.
For many homeowners, a tankless water heater is absolutely worth the investment. While the upfront cost is higher than that of a traditional tank-based unit, the long-term savings can be significant. These systems also last longer — up to 20 years or more with proper care. This reduces the need for frequent water heater replacement.
Their efficiency also means lower operating costs over time, which can offset the initial expense. Beyond savings, homeowners value the consistent comfort of having hot water available whenever it’s needed. Plus, a tankless water heater installation can increase your home’s value, making it appealing to potential buyers. If you don’t have much space, want to use less energy, or want endless hot water, upgrading to a tankless model may be the right choice for your family.

We had a huge mess with the master bath. Mike came in on a Sunday for us (thats was so nice), no-one else would. He was EXTREMELY professional and nice. He handled the issue and explained a lot to us (he didn't have to do that). I was so relieved about the whole experience. Another kicker is that he had no intention of nickel and diming us for a Sunday call. If you ever need a plumber, please call this company and hopefully, you will get Mike. I'm beyond satisfied and I will NEVER use a different company.

We were so blessed to have someone like Ira sent out to us. He was professional, respectful, knowledgeable, with lots of patience. We also learned a lot from him. What an asset for Ben Franklin.

Hector did a fantastic job! Replaced all copper lines, replaced all shut off valves, rerouted a few lines that were not in code, replaced main shut off valve coming in from the street, replaced kitchen faucet, installed a new garbage disposal unit. The list goes on! Now we have peace of mind with no worries on plumbing issues. GREAT JOB!!!

We contacted Benjamin Franklin Plumbing because we had a leak we couldn’t locate. Joe P. was the technician/plumber who came out, and he was absolutely exceptional from start to finish. He called ahead to say he was on his way and showed up right when he said, which was very appreciated. Joe thoroughly inspected every possible source until he found the issue. He clearly explained what he was checking, how he identified the problem, and what our options were to fix it. He was professional, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied after the repair. We’ll be requesting Joe specifically for any future plumbing needs. He truly represents outstanding service.

First time that Ben Franklin came here for work. I needed a water line run to my new refrigerator. The obvious thing to do was run an underfloor line from the refrigerator location to the nearby sink plumbing. But a quick exam of my very low crawl space showed that the ventilation ductwork made that route impossible. Fortunately, the water line to my utility room washing machine could be quickly tapped to run the line through the wall. I also appreciated that the plumber helped me position and set my refrigerator to finish the project. Will be calling Ben Franklin for a future project. Thanks!

Technician Matthew was amazing. He was very friendly and explained everything he was doing. The job ended up being more than what he came out to do and he stayed to finish everything that needed to be done. I definitely would recommend this company to friends and family
To keep your water heater running smoothly in Ann Arbor, it’s a good idea to flush the tank once a year to clear out sediment, especially if your area has hard water. Check the pressure relief valve, inspect for rust or leaks, and make sure the thermostat is set to a safe temperature (usually around 120°F). Regular maintenance helps extend the life of your unit and keeps your hot water flowing efficiently. For peace of mind, consider scheduling a professional inspection with a local plumber.
